Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, whatever time of the day it is, it’s the time where we hear what God is saying to us. Today, we’re going to be looking at the title: While It Is Day.
Let me take a few minutes of your time, and we’ll look briefly at the verse of Scripture in John Chapter 9, verse 4. Jesus was speaking. He said:
“I must work the works of him that sent me while it is day. The night cometh when no man can work.”
I’ll give a brief background of the story here. This was a man who was blind that Jesus had healed, and he was being challenged because the Pharisees questioned everything. The things expected that he could not do. And then, while they were debating over whether Jesus was real or he was fake, or did He actually do this, Jesus was speaking about what God had called Him to do. He was talking about the work. He says, “I must do God’s work, the one who sent me, while it is day.”
The Passing of Time and Opportunity
Do you realize that whether you do anything or not, the day comes and the day goes, and before you know it, it is night time? And then the next day again, another day comes.
I believe Jesus was talking about time frame. The daytime is when there is a lot of energy, and opportunities. You see people because there is light. You don’t need to turn on your bulbs; the sun provides light wherever you are in the world, you know. But the night time is when everybody goes to bed, most people go to sleep. Literally, Jesus said, “Night comes when no man can work.” He is talking about the time of life. The scripture comes to mind that says, “Arise and shine, your light is come!” (Isaiah 60:1).
Making Your Calling Sure
The question that I want to ask you is: Has the Lord told you anything that you need to do? Has He given you a thought, an assignment? Do you know why you were created? Do you know where you are here on this earth? God has placed in every one of us a gifting, and God is saying to you: “Make your calling and election sure while it is day.”
Do you remember, do you know that we don’t have a continuing city in this place? Yes, there’s a time and season for everything. Now, in this season, God is saying you need to walk the works of Him while it is day, while you have the time.
This is encouraging someone here: That little thing that you are doing is making an impact. So don’t be discouraged! While it is day, while you are still alive. Do you know that the dead cannot praise Him? The dead, of course, even if they cry, we that are alive can’t hear them. So while you still have the life of God in you, God is saying, “Arise and take your place.”
When life begins to shine, you often see shadows around. Glory to Jesus! The God is saying that your shadow is needed by some people, so you need to take your rightful place.
Have you written some things down a long time ago, or you keep having thoughts and procrastination concerning the Kingdom of God? The Kingdom of God needs to move forward, and God is encouraging you: Rise up and take your place while it is day in your home. Take your place! Whatever God has called you to do, take your place.
Final Charge
I’m going to wrap up now with a word of prayer. Lord, I pray that everyone hearing this will arise. God will fill their hearts with those thoughts where You want them to go while it is day. And I pray that when You come, we will have confidence and not be ashamed that You’re coming. Thank You, Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Until the next time, this is Dr. Blessing Airhihen, The Voice of Encouragement. Stay strong.
